Browser security: protection, updates and clear controls

When choosing a secure browser, look at its update process, permissions and data handling. These are the protections Buck Browser provides and the limits to understand.

Keep the browser current

Direct-download installations check for releases and verify the release signature and package checksum before opening an update. The update controls show release information and download progress, and installation begins when you choose.

Linux packages also receive updates through the system package manager using the configured repository and scoped signing key. The Android Play Store edition uses Play Store for updates. Find platform instructions on the download page and product changes in release notes.

Know what download verification establishes

Signature and checksum checks verify that the package matches the selected signed release. They do not guarantee that every website or downloaded file is safe. The Windows executable is currently unsigned; signed release metadata is separate from Windows publisher signing. Use the official download page and review operating-system installation prompts.

Control website access and tracking

Manage camera, microphone, location and other website capabilities in Settings → Site settings. Android also has app-level permission controls. Grant access only when it is needed for the task you are performing.

Buck Protection blocks advertising and tracking requests and supports per-site exceptions. It does not block every tracking method or guarantee that a site is trustworthy. Private browsing separates local history; it does not conceal activity from websites or your network.

Keep bookmark pairing private

Buck Sync encrypts bookmark and folder content before it leaves your device. Protect the pairing phrase, and never share passwords or encryption keys with support. Review the privacy policy for local storage, service metadata and retention.
